Base Cover 2

 Base Cover 2 is a five under two deep defense.  This defense works well vs. teams that have a better short yardage passing game.  It forces Qbs to hold the ball and make the more difficult deeper throws.  But just like any defense, Cover 2 has holes.  There are openings in the fade area up the sideline, there are also openings in the area just behind the Linebackers, right in front of the safeties. And depending on the play, there are ways to get the slot area open between the flat and the seam.   So teaching good cover 2 technique will be very important to shrink the natural openings in this defense.
